Fire Escape French Windows
Get Your Free QuoteFrench windows are an especially good choice for windows on the upper floors of a property, where they’ll give the most impressive views. We can also fit them on the first floor, where they can be a handy option if your current window isn’t large enough to serve as an adequate fire escape.

Further Customisation
Not only do our French windows come with various colour and glazing customisation options, but they are also available in various frame designs. Because of this, you will be able to match your French window frames to other areas of your home.
Additionally, we offer various finishing options for our French windows. Because we create our own French windows, we will also be able to manufacture them to meet your exact specifications for your Devon or Exeter property.
Practical
French windows come in pairs that open together. This design can give you a pleasing portal onto the outside world, and can also function as an auxiliary fire escape. We’re adamant that this style of window can complement almost any home but have a particular soft spot for fitting them in cottage-type properties.
French-style windows will never go out of fashion, and all our products are made-to-order at our affiliated Clevedon factory to our exacting standards. We want you to be able to feel safe in the knowledge that your windows are hard-wearing and pleasing to the eye.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between French windows and French doors?
Both French windows and French doors open and close as a pair, but usually have different locking systems and handles. Simply put, this is because they’re different sizes and, therefore, require different opening mechanisms and levels of security.
French doors’ frames and sashes are much thicker than those of French windows, and French doors are much taller and thinner. Despite these differences, both work with two side-hung panels that open out from the middle with no pillar between them. When both windows or doors are open, you’ll have an unobstructed view of your garden or entrance for a cool breeze.
French doors are usually fitted on the ground floor so that they open into the garden, whereas French windows are smaller, looking good on any floor. Either way, both give increased ventilation and a fabulous view from within.
Are French windows secure?
French windows are just as secure as any other window. As ever, however, this depends on the quality of the materials they’re made of, the type of glazing and the security mechanisms used.
At Launa, we try to offer satisfaction and peace of mind by providing quality in all three areas. All of our glazing is A-rated and comes with heat-toughened glass on the ground floor. All of our windows are in compliance with the Police-led initiative, which works to improve home security in the UK.
Do French windows swing in or out?
This is completely up to you! Some of our customers find inward-opening windows easier to clean from the inside, but others prefer a more traditional outward-opening model. If you have large, heavy curtains already fitted, these might make the decision for you.
What areas do you serve?
We serve Exeter, Devon, and the surrounding area, including Torquay, Plymouth, Exmouth, Cornwall, Somerset, Newton Abbot, and more.
Happy Customers
Donna Benwell
We are very pleased with our front door. It looks lovely and far better than I thought it would. The fitter was excellent.
Yvonne Levene
As a family, we have used Launa Windows on several occasions in different properties and have confidence in the service and quality.
This time, I had all windows and the front door replaced, as well as a window-to-patio door adaptation, which has modernized the property completely.
All personnel are helpful and supportive, from office staff to surveyors and workmen. I was kept informed of the processes and stages from beginning to end. I am very happy with the finished product, it has been updated and given a ‘facelift’ to the property, as well as increasing the warmth and light. The pricing was very fair, too, with options to pay in various ways.
Laetitia Mayne
Superb experience from start to finish whilst having our Bifold doors fitted by Launa recently. Duncan, the builder, was brilliant in explaining everything along the way and the fitters, Terry and Dan, were quick and efficient.
I would highly recommend this great local company. No comparison with others around in terms of service, quality and price.
James Lane
We had our windows replaced by Launa Windows and highly recommend them to anyone who is thinking of replacing their windows.
The finish is excellent, and the workmanship is very professional, resulting in our home feeling warmer and quieter.
The consultants were helpful and talked us through the whole process, the fitters were reliable, punctual, professional and above all friendly.
Rosemary Farley
From start to finish, this has been a very easy experience. We were absolutely dreading the upheaval of having the new windows and doors fitted, but nothing could have been further from the truth.
Our fitters Dan and Terry were so polite, personable and helpful that nothing was too much trouble. They were here for the whole week, and during this time, they worked so very hard and at the end of each day, they left everything clean and tidy.
I cannot speak too highly of them. At the end of the week, the house looked wonderful, and we were so delighted with having decided to go with Launa.
