  • Porches are the perfect way to round off your home’s front door appeal. Your kitchen or lounge will no longer be crowded with shoes, coats and general everyday clutter. Porches allow for you to safely tuck away those outdoor clothes in a place you can easily access them – perfect for when you need to rush out the door.

Walls and brickwork can be customised, as can the windows, roof and door frames, meaning your porch really becomes your little design project. As usual, we offer you bundles of colours and styles at Launa Windows so you can get the bespoke porch of your dreams.

However, it isn’t all about the appearance. We craft our porches carefully to achieve the highest standard of security. We include intricate locking systems with tough door material and thermally-toughened glass to form the most secure porch possible.

If you want your porch to have lots of light, a glass roof may be your best bet. Tiled roofs are an option for those who want it to be as warm as possible. Polycarbonate roofing is the wallet-friendly option, without sacrificing any style or safety. These options are all up to you. Porches can bring you lots of storage or another place to relax whilst you unlace your shoes after a long, hard day.

Common Questions

Do porches need foundations?

You will need foundations to have a porch installed on to steady it for all possible weathers. We will come to visit to assess your foundations before we start installing your porch. Our assessments involve testing to see what soil you have to give us an idea of how deep the foundations need to be. Even if you are only planning a small porch, foundations are essential to keeping the porch from tilting or subsiding over time. We install porches to last and to become one with the rest of your house. For queries about the foundations, give us a ring.

How big can a porch be without needing planning permission?

Porches can normally be built without the need for planning permission. This is because the development is small enough to be considered “permitted development”. If it does exceed the norms of size, you may need to seek planning permission.

In order to not have to apply for planning permission, your porch cannot be larger than three metres squared. There should also be a distance of at least two metres between your property and a public road, and the porch cannot exceed three metres in height. Although this seems specific, organising your porch can be a really easy process. To discuss the measurement specifics further, contact us and we will help you through.

Does adding a porch add value to your home?

Porches are very visible from the front, so it will definitely add kerb appeal to viewers and potential buyers. However, this is subject to how your home is already structured and how much a porch adds to its dynamic. If you already have an entrance corridor, for example, a porch might not add a huge amount of value to your home. However, the high security of our porches is very appealing, which in turn can bring more attention and value to your property.

What is a good size for a porch?

Three metres squared is a good standard to work with, especially if you don’t want to undergo applying for planning permission. Considering this, any other sizing should be relevant to what you will use the porch for. Seating is sometimes put into a porch, which would need a slightly wider space. However, if you want your porch to act as additional storage only, you will find you don’t need too much space at all. Please contact us and talk to our friendly experts if you need some help in deciding the most appropriate size for your needs. We can give you a home visit to assess your current space and give you recommendations.
