uPVC Care
Taking care of your uPVC
uPVC is easy to maintain and only requires simple cleaning to keep it looking its best. Wipe the frames down with warm soapy water and a soft cloth. Avoid abrasive products and solvents, including glass cleaner, metal polish and scouring pads, as these can damage gloss or woodgrain-effect finishes. For stubborn marks, use a specialist uPVC cleaner designed for the material.
To help prevent condensation and ensure effective drainage, regularly clear any debris from the drainage slots between the bottom of the window and the external sill. You should also check the drainage channels inside the sashes when the window is open.
Glass Care
The glass we use is manufactured to high standards, although minor imperfections or blemishes may occur. These will be assessed in accordance with Glass and Glazing Federation guidelines.
For everyday cleaning, use a non-smear glass cleaner with a soft cloth or paper towel. Spray the cleaner onto the glass, including the corners, then wipe thoroughly. Turn the cloth or paper towel over and buff the glass until dry for a clear, streak-free finish.

Hardware
Regular maintenance can help keep your window and door hardware operating smoothly.
Metal-to-metal joints without nylon bearings should be lubricated once a year using a light engineering oil, such as 3-in-1. This includes friction stays, hinges, espagnolette mechanisms, gearing mechanisms, shootbolts and locking mechanisms.
Rollers on door bolts, espagnolette and shootbolt mechanisms that engage with locking keeps should be lubricated annually using a light grease, such as lanolin.

Cleaning Tips
Handles
Wipe handles with a damp cloth to remove dust and dirt, then dry thoroughly.
Seals
Effective weather seals help prevent draughts and reduce heat loss. Clean them regularly with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. If a seal becomes dislodged from its groove, carefully slide it back into position to help prevent damage and maintain an effective seal.
Composite Door Care
Composite doors provide security and protection for your home while requiring relatively little maintenance. Follow the guidance below to keep each part of your door clean and operating effectively.
Door Leaf
Remove dirt, grit and grime using warm water and a soft cloth. Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
Door Frame
Clean the frame using warm soapy water and a soft cloth. For stubborn marks, use a specialist uPVC cleaner where appropriate.
External Glass
Clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, then finish with a proprietary glass cleaner.
Leaded Glass
Clean leaded glass with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, followed by a proprietary glass cleaner. Natural oxidation of the lead may occur over time.
Use warm water and a mild detergent with a clean, soft cloth to remove dirt and grime. Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
Apply a light engineering oil, such as 3-in-1, to moving parts as required, particularly if you live near the coast or an industrial area where environmental conditions can increase wear.
Hinges
Lubricate hinges with a suitable light engineering oil to help maintain smooth operation.
Cylinder Locks
Use a Teflon-based lubricant to maintain your cylinder locks. Avoid using oil or graphite powder, as these may affect the operation of the lock.

Happy Customers
Donna Benwell
We are very pleased with our front door. It looks lovely and far better than I thought it would. The fitter was excellent.
Yvonne Levene
As a family, we have used Launa Windows on several occasions in different properties and have confidence in the service and quality.
This time, I had all windows and the front door replaced, as well as a window-to-patio door adaptation, which has modernized the property completely.
All personnel are helpful and supportive, from office staff to surveyors and workmen. I was kept informed of the processes and stages from beginning to end. I am very happy with the finished product, it has been updated and given a ‘facelift’ to the property, as well as increasing the warmth and light. The pricing was very fair, too, with options to pay in various ways.
Laetitia Mayne
Superb experience from start to finish whilst having our Bifold doors fitted by Launa recently. Duncan, the builder, was brilliant in explaining everything along the way and the fitters, Terry and Dan, were quick and efficient.
I would highly recommend this great local company. No comparison with others around in terms of service, quality and price.
James Lane
We had our windows replaced by Launa Windows and highly recommend them to anyone who is thinking of replacing their windows.
The finish is excellent, and the workmanship is very professional, resulting in our home feeling warmer and quieter.
The consultants were helpful and talked us through the whole process, the fitters were reliable, punctual, professional and above all friendly.
Rosemary Farley
From start to finish, this has been a very easy experience. We were absolutely dreading the upheaval of having the new windows and doors fitted, but nothing could have been further from the truth.
Our fitters Dan and Terry were so polite, personable and helpful that nothing was too much trouble. They were here for the whole week, and during this time, they worked so very hard and at the end of each day, they left everything clean and tidy.
I cannot speak too highly of them. At the end of the week, the house looked wonderful, and we were so delighted with having decided to go with Launa.
